Welcome to the WIKI for 'Embedding Robotics in the Curriculum'
This wiki is intended to be a resourse for anyone who is interested or involved in any way with robotics in education. This foloows from the initial meeting that was held at the Open University on Tuesday 1st April 2008.
Please browse around the site and give us feedback on what you see. There is a comment facility on each page. If you wish to add anything to the site, please do. This is a communal effort!
Over the next few days, I will be creating a basic structure of pages. If you think of something I've missed, tell me in a comment or create the page yourself if you are feeling brave.

Hi All I have just been transcribing the output from yesterdays discussion and it looks as though its not that fruitful - there are a number of reasons this could be - we could have arranged you better, we could have asked better questions, the space was not ideal, things were a bit rushed and people were getting tired so what I propose is that we all meet again soon but under a less formal setting... What I had in mind was a series of exploratory discussion groups in the morning - fully facilitated and much more focussed followed by a meeting style event with agenda items, specific outcomes and actions. I am happy to arrange this meeting, I would suggest UWE as a venue, just because I can get it for free but am happy for another venue to be suggested. Perhaps a school?? We basically need a great big room with flexible furniture. We can look into options regarding catering.

I agree that a follow up meeting is essential. I attended a similar meeting, with similar aims in the Las Vegas about 5 years ago. This has largely failed to produce any results. I think for two reasons:
1) Because everyone who attended were not new to the robotics field and they had invested a lot of intellectual capital in their viewpoint and were not ready to accept other ways of moving ahead
2) Because there was no adequate follow up - people just disappeared back to their institutions and resumed what they were doing and largely continued talking to their original contacts
It would strike that both these faults can be overcome if we make the effort to get together and continue the dialogue.

Hi,
I am not sure whether we are meant to edit the attached word documents. If they are put up as documents instead of wiki pages does this make a difference?

No, the Word documents in the sidebar are there for information only.
